It could be, though some of the images look more figural, almost similar in style to the Bayeux Tapestry. What a magnificent altar though - I love those carved wooden altarpieces. Baroque is beautiful but Gothic is truly unrivalled.
You may be right on the carpet. The wooden altar bits are modern, around 100 years old from memory. The late Victorian/Edwardian Anglicans had an eye for gothic style. The stonework is mostly medieval. Overall a beautiful setting.
