St Swithun’s feast day is 15th July and though the church has largely forgotten him now, he lives on in folklore in the saying:
“St Swithun's day if thou dost rain, for forty days it will remain, St Swithun's day if thou be fair, for forty days 'twill rain no mair (more).”
