Photo Post - St Boniface, Bunbury, Part 1
A majestic nave, rare paintings and even rarer - good quality modern stained glass
St Boniface, Bunbury, began in the 8th century but the modern church is a mixture of 13th and 15th century.

It even has some medieval paintings, which we’ll look at in this post. Here are St Anthony and St Catherine of Alexandria, with a damaged section on the left. In the paint you can clearly see the outline of the shaped wooden carving which framed each portrait.
This time we are going to look at the nave, which was rebuilt in 1490 and is therefore a good example of the Perpendicular period.
The rood screen is modern. To the left are the remains of the lady chapel, to the right another chapel stood where the organ is now. It’s an incredibly light space due to the acres of clear glass and the tall pillars.
This is taken looking to the west end.
The modern window of the Lady Chapel is lovely, covering both the annunciation and her immaculate heart.
