In these posts I take a Latin hymn from the Paris Breviary, published by JH Parker in 1838 without translation, and translate it literally, without trying to make it read like a hymn.

This week’s hymn is for a feast of the Five Wounds of Jesus, on the Friday after Ash Wednesday. I’ve written a little about this popular medieval devotion here.
